In Reponse...

In response to being sick, my friend Petrol from Chicago sent me an email which included this really cute and awesome photo:

He is an awesome special amazing friend. I'mt thinking that I should make a music mix for him, which I'm putting together for him right now. I just hope he likes it :)

Day 7, Sick with a Cold

Yep, that's right. I've been sick with a cold for 7 days now. I really want it to end. With this hope in mind I'm going to post some pics that make me happy.

the kitty's been cuddling with me for most of the cold - it's really cute.

I like daisies, so on my way home from work today I grabbed some. Yay!

From Our Deck at Night

Mmm hmm, I think that'll do just fine.

WWJD?

So, as y'all may or may not know, Jer and I are going to go down to Vegas at the beginning of February to buy my grandmom's car for $1, and drive it all the way back up to Seattle.

Here is route 1:

The Cali-Oregon Route

(total estimated driving time: 20 hours, 23 minutes)

Seems like an interesting stretch of road - if we chose this I don't think either of us would be completely bored. We would also have the opportunity to stop at In n Out burger at LEAST ONCE during the trip. This is the road I had in my head while planning the first parts of the trip. I was a little dismayed when Google Maps, Mapquest, AND Yahoo Maps chose the following instead:

The Whitey Boring-as-Hell Route

and don't forget to bring your gun!!!

(total estimated driving time: 18 hours, 44 minutes)

Yeeee HAW! If you're looking to visit Mormon temples AND have the possibility of eating BULL TESTICLES, I think this will be the most interesting route, hands down. Who cares if the route makes me a little scared a someone named Jo Bob is going to try to "rustle me up".

I am partially kidding about the above. I'm sure that if we stay in the car and be sure to wear some crosses we should be A-OK. I've been through the Utah part and Eastern Washington part of the route before, and it's pretty freaking barren and boring, too. I just hope that the Idaho stretch isn't like that also.

So, have any of you taken either route before? What are some recommendations about road trips? I think that this will be our first one, so any pointers would be most appreciated. :)

New Apartment!

I'm sorry that I haven't written in awhile - for the past month Jer and I have been planning / going through a move from Crapitol Hill (can you tell I'm not missing it at all?) to West Lake Union. We still have a lot to unpack and organize, but I know that some of you have been champing at the bit to hear from me (or just see pics of the new place). While the present pictures of the apartment would not be so exciting, here's some photos of some of the views that we now have in living here...

this is a view from the deck off the living room

this is a view off the bedroom deck

this is another view from the bedroom deck.

I'd have to say that the last view is my personal favorite - when we wake up in the morning, this is the view that we can see without getting out of bed.

In any case, we should have a housewarming soon - I'll be sure to keep y'all posted.
